Fitness for all ages was celebrated over the summer during the fourth annual Wesley Village 5k and Fun Walk. There were more than 250 participants — runners ranging in age from 7-84 — and three generations of runners from one family.
Runners from across the state older than 70 were sent personal invitations to participate for free. In all, 12 runners said yes, including three who were in their 80s.
All runners over 70 received a special road race pin, and those over 80 received a bottle of wine and tickets to the Shubert Theater. A portion of the proceeds also benefited Spooner House, a local homeless shelter.
Wesley Village is located at 580 Long Hill Avenue, Shelton. For more information, call 877-929-5321 or visit www.umh.org.
